these kitchen/food still lifes (lives?) by laura letinsky remind me of simply breakfast ... except more depressing. like fairy-tale-gone-wrong depressing. like the day after a party you've been waiting for months to throw depressing. like using a beautiful tablecloth for the first time and spilling red wine on it depressing. like sounding like a low-fat yogurt commercial depressing. i found out about letinsky because there's a postcard up on z's parents' wall advertising her somewhere, somewhere show at the james harris gallery. the photographs here are from morning and melancholia displayed at the edwynn houk gallery.
They are lonely photos. I want to call her and give her a hug.
